SAP Solution Manager is a full application life-cycle management tool-set and includes a comprehensive set of processes, tools, services, and an organisational model to manage SAP and non-SAP solutions. What’s more, it is free to SAP customers who have a current SAP Enterprise or standard support contract in place.
The latest release of SAP Solution Manager 7.2 is designed not only to support you managing your existing IT landscape, but also to optimise the value of digitisation provided by SAP S/4HANA. Below we outline how you need to prepare your system for this latest release.
Release strategy of SAP Solution Manager
SAP Solution Manager 7.2 is the only fully supported release with end of mainstream maintenance through to 31st December 2025. There are key SAP support infrastructure changes planned on 01.01.2020 meaning that customers should be on SAP Solution Manager 7.2 SPS07 (Support Package Stack) on or before this date. After this date, customers on older releases of SAP Solution manager will no longer be able to connect via the SAP Support backbone
Please refer to this blog for full details.
It is important to prepare your system as after 1st January, 2020, SAP Solution Manager systems on SP stack level lower than SPS07 will not communicate with the SAP Support Backbone anymore.
